Help Steve Walk Again!

Everyone's favorite hill-jack needs your help! Steve Roberts is a Perry County, PA native who moved to Philadelphia a year and a half ago to start a new life and a new adventure. Since then, Steve has built an amazing network, become a pillar in the community, and is a constant source of inspiration for those that want to make a change. Steve is not only one of the hardest workers I know, but is also constantly putting out his hand to help others and to spread a message of hope.

Unfortunately, on February 21, 2020 Steve had an accident at work that was not covered by any medical insurance or workers comp. Steve fell from a deck he was building and ruptured the disk between his C3-C4 vertebrae. The injury damaged his spinal cord, causing a condition known as incomplete tetraplegia, meaning he became partially paralyzed in all 4 of his limbs. He was rushed to Paoli hospital where he had emergency neck surgery fusing his vertebrae together. He then spent 4 days recovering in the ICU at Paoli hospital, and is continuing his recovery in an acute physical rehabilitation facility in Malvern, PA
In rehab, Steve is relearning to walk and regain use of his hands. As always, Steve is a fighter in good spirits. He keeps the rehab staff entertained with his humor, and is bringing the same determination and work ethic to his physical recovery as he has to his challenges in the past. With the support of an excellent medical team and top-notch therapists, Steve has made promising progress in rehab so far. We are extremely grateful that with continued therapy, he is expected to regain most of the functioning in his legs and arms over the course of the next several months to a year.
Again, however, Steve did not have any medical insurance at the time of his injury or surgery. We are looking to raise some funds to help offset the costs of the medical care he has received so far as well as the costs of ongoing therapy and medical supplies he will need as he continues to recover. We know that this is a scary and uncertain time for everyone, and greatly appreciate any amount at all that you can give. Unfortunately, physical therapy cannot be put on hold if Steve is to continue to regain functioning in his legs and arms. Even if you can't give, it would go a long way if you're able to share this story to others in your network that might be able to help!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story and for all prayers and love you can send our way!
