Steve Shubinski Rehabilitation Fund….
Donation protected
On Wednesday morning, October 25th, our hearts dropped when we heard that Steve suffered sudden cardiac arrest while out walking and was being rushed by paramedics to the hospital in Mission Viejo, California. We cried, prayed, and rallied around Sue and the family as we waited. Then the 1st miracle happened… Steve was revived! Steve and Sue’s army of friends, family, and the congregation at his church continued to pray and then the 2nd miracle happened…after several weeks in a medically induced coma….Steve woke up!!!! We were so thankful! Sue and now Steve too are expressing their sincere thanks for the overwhelming volume of prayer, love, care, and support that so many of you have shown. THANK YOU!
NOW…..we are praying for the 3rd miracle…Steve’s FULL RESTORATION physically and cognitively. While Steve is making slow, but steady progress, he has a long road of recovery ahead, so please keep praying for this! He walked 6 steps with assistance yesterday and we were elated to see it as he hasn’t used his legs for a month!
Sadly, Steve’s HMO insurance is planning on discharging him from the rehab facility he is currently at despite him not being able to do any ADLs (Activities of Daily Living) like grooming, eating, toileting, etc…. We are appealing this heartless decision, but have little recourse.
THIS IS WHERE YOU COME IN
Please prayerfully consider a gift of any amount to go towards Steve’s Rehabilitation. It costs $800/day for “Cash pay” at the great facility he is at (room & board along w/ speech, occupational, and physical therapies)! Our goal is to pay cash for him to stay at the facility for about a month and then several more months of assistance at home. All of these funds will go directly to Sue and Steve to pay for their ridiculously high "out of pocket" care expenses.
For a small number of you who may not be aware, Steve has spent these last 3-5 years in “retirement” serving almost full time selflessly helping others. In June he received special recognition in the Men’s Ministry at Mission Hills Church for his exemplary devotion to others. In his award, given to the top male volunteer, it listed just some of the ways he served…Men’s Bible study leader, Life group leader, Food lead for the free mid-week community meal, Food lead for the men’s monthly breakfast, Food lead for the monthly helping hands group, Food lead for the high school summer camp, Drive through prayer leader, Disability ministry living nativity volunteer/cast, Gideons Bible leader, mentor to struggling young men and the founder of the recycling program at church which raises money for those in need!
If there is one man who deserves our faithful prayer, and financial support in his time of need, it is Steve Shubinski!
PLEASE join us in lovingly and faithfully supporting this amazing man and his beautiful bride, Sue. Thank you!
