My brother, Steve Stephens, was in a horrible motorcycle accident Friday night (06/26/20) in Southport. He was alert and talking at the scene of the accident. Then things went south and EMS had to revive my brother back.
He was airlifted to New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington after EMS got him stable enough to get on the helicopter.
Once at NHRMC the family had to wait outside the hospital due to the Cornavirus. Then I received a call from my brothers doctor. Both my mama and myself were allowed in to receive the worse news we could possibly hear. The doctor gave my brother only 2 hours. The ICU got him stable enough for mama and myself to go in to see him and get a kiss.
As of today (06/28/20) he has had his left arm amputated above the elbow; his pinky to his wrist on the right hand is gone; really bad bruising of the lungs; a small portion of his small intestines had to be removed; right femur fractured with pins and external rod which will be replaced with screws tomorrow during surgery and a very extensive open wound on the back side of his right hip which will require skin graft.
Our God is good that my brother does not have any head/neck/spine/pelvic injuries.
He is still in very serious condition and needs all the prayers.
