Brothers,
Our friend and Brother Steve Schuyler is concluding his term as Grand Consul of Sigma Chi in June. His two year term has been a challenging one to say the least. Steve had some health challenges, lead our Fraternity through the assault on Greek Life around the country and of course, Covid-19. During his term, Steve led with dignity, firmness and compassion, emblematic of our journey from our initiation many years ago.
We will be celebrating Steve and Valerie at Grand Chapter in June and encourage everyone (especially those in Arizona) to join Cindy and me at the Arizona Alumni Reunion on Friday, June 25th.
As one of the re-founding members of Beta Phi, I met Steve as he pledged upon his return from duty serving our country in the Army. I was honored to have him as my Pledge Son and watch him embrace the Sigma Chi Standards. Steve’s maturity and leadership skills saw him ascend to be the Consul of Beta Phi and with his support and vision, I was proud to serve after him as Consul as well. Steve was instrumental in my life, helping me enter the commercial real estate world and being in my wedding to my Sweetheart Cindy.
Steve and I, along with countless others worked on leases, purchases, development, fund raising and construction of several iterations of our Chapter Houses culminating with the beautiful House our Brothers now enjoy. Whether you know Steve personally, or have been a Beta Phi since 1977, he has touched your life in some way. He has devoted himself to Sigma Chi and especially Beta Phi and helped all of us achieve our best.
I now ask of you my Brothers, that you consider a donation to the fund raising efforts to help underwrite Steve’s sendoff, the Arizona Alumni reunion and other costs associated with the Grand Chapter. Surely Steve and Valerie deserve you support. Cindy and I are honored to be the first contributors to the Steve and Valerie Schuyler Appreciation Fund and hope you will join us. Any amount is welcome, but we have set a lofty goal of raising $25,000.
