Helping Steve

Hi, I am Janet, Steve's wife. We are looking to raise money for an accessible van since he now has his power wheelchair. 

These vans are VERY expensive and we are struggling just to survive right now.  I have to take more time off work to take him to his appointments and it would be much easier for both of us if we could have a way to get around with the wheelchair. 

I want him to feel safe when we go out anywhere and the wheelchair will help with that. 

Steve has sIBM (Sporadic Inclusion Body Myositis), which is an acquired progressive muscle disorder that is characterized by progressive weakness and degeneration (atrophy) of the muscles especially those of the arms and legs. There is no treatment and no cure for this disease. It is progressive and moves at its own pace. It is an autoimmune disease.

We do not like asking for help, but we are seeing that as time goes by we are not going to be able to afford a lot of stuff that will help him stay as self-sufficient as he can. I would like him to still be able to enjoy life while before he ends up bedridden and in such a depressed state.

Steve does not want to feel like a burden to anyone, and I am trying to help him hold onto his pride.
