Steven and Sara are adopting a baby!

Steven and I (Sara) have dreamt of becoming parents since long before we met each other. When we were dating, we were already talking about baby names and how many children we hoped to have. Since then we have experienced years of infertility. Finally, we received a heart-breaking infertility diagnosis in March 2023. Barring a creative miracle, we will never have biological children without the help of expensive and invasive medical procedures. Even then, there are no guarantees.

In April 2023, only a month after our diagnosis, we found out about the possibility to adopt a baby due in September 2023. All parties involved agreed that Steven and I adopting the baby was the best way forward. What a blessing! In July we found out that we are expecting a baby boy. We cannot wait to meet our son! We are planning an open adoption with our son's birth mother and her family. She is absolutely lovely and we couldn't be more grateful to her.

Since this is an independent adoption, there are many costs involved. From legal fees and court fees to social work expenses as well as travel expenses to and from Saskatoon (where the baby will be born). We estimate that the total costs will be between $9000-$12,000. This is where you come in! We are blessed to have so many loving and supportive people in our life. This GoFundMe is a way to give our community far and wide a way to offer their support. If there is any excess money raised with this GoFundMe, we plan to put it toward baby supplies or an education fund for our son.
