Hi everyone, my names Michele.
As most of you know my dad got sick in 2014 after he had hernia removal surgery at Northern Dutchess. After the surgery we found out he had a blood clotting disorder. A blood clot ended up forming after the surgery that went to his small bowel and caused it to die. He was transferred to Albany Med where he had numerous surgeries and ending up taking his whole small bowel. When they figured out it was something they couldn’t handle anymore they then called around for specialists. He was sent to Georgetown university hospital in Washington DC where he stayed for over a year. He ended up on the transplant list and received the transplant sometime after at Mount Sinai hospital in Manhattan. Everything was fine up until recently when his clotting disorder became an issue again with having one of his legs amputated.
On January 25, 2022 I got a call in the afternoon that my dad had passed away in his sleep. This was very unexpected as a few of us had talked to him and saw him days leading up to the 25th and he was fine.
We will miss him so much. But I know he lived an exciting fun filled life.
I’m setting up this fundraiser to help my family with this unexpected cost. As being the oldest child I didn’t think I would be responsible for arrangements for my dad so soon. The money raised will help me and my family with his memorial, honoring him and his life.
We would be so grateful and appreciate any donations we receive big or small as anything helps.
