Last week, just one week before his birthday, our friend Steven Sheffield was in a major car accident in which his neck was broken at C2, C5, and C7 and his spine was badly injured, likely after suffering a cardiac incident. He is currently in the ICU at a hospital in Oakland, recovering from neck and neurosurgery. He will be entering a rehabilitation center soon for those with major spine trauma to undergo a long journey to recovery and healing.
The good news: The surgery was successful and Steven is able to move his toes and fingers! His doctors are positive about his ability to regain mobility with these good signs.
More good news: Steven's strength, positivity, and determination is going to get him through this challenge.
Bad news: The journey to recovery will be long and expensive.
We his friends are starting this campaign to help offset his expenses from neurosurgery, an extended hospital stay, rehabilitation, not being able to earn an income during recovery, his family's travel expenses from Alabama, and many more costs. Right now, we're unclear of the full amount, while we know it will be exorbitant, any amount you are able to give will help improve his prognosis and ability to access quality care immediately. All proceeds go directly to Steven and his family.
No one or family is ever prepared to go through something so devastating, and we his friends are hoping to show our love and support to offset this huge financial burden.
Thank you so much for your support and love!
Team Steven
