Steve’s Heart Transplant Fund

Hi there, my name is Lisa Shifflett-Wenner and I am starting this Go Fund Me Fundraiser for my brother, Steve Shifflett. Typically, Steve prefers to be a private person in terms of his health and medical status. However, there is a time in life when a person needs to lean on others for physical, emotional and financial help. Steve gave me his blessing to start this fundraiser on his behalf. Some of you may know that he has been in heart failure for the last 13 years (ejection fraction of 10-12%). His heart started failing just after he turned 40. His only choice at that time was to continue to live life as best he could and take it one day at a time. He had a pacemaker and defibrillator put in his chest. He had managed it pretty well until this past fall/winter. His Doctor shared the heartbreaking news that his heart condition has now worsened (ejection fraction of 5%) and he would need to consider having a heart transplant. This would require a significant lifestyle change as well as numerous Doctor appointments and many specialists. He has incredibly followed ALL of

the Medical specialists recommendations and was placed on the heart transplant list in May 2022. Steve has a rare O-negative blood type which complicates the process and finding a donor will be more challenging. He was just moved up on the list 2 weeks ago as time is precious. Steve has incurred multiple medical bills throughout this process as well as costs with food/gas/hotel during his weekly trips to Madison. He has an incredible partner, Patricia, that has been by his side through it all! They need help with managing all of this and with the numerous costs following the heart transplant. Once the transplant happens, Steve will be in the hospital for several months.We would certainly appreciate any support you can offer and we pray a heart comes his way very soon.
