On May 24, 2015 Steve was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer called Central Nervous System (CNS) Brain Lymphoma, a brain tumor that is highly aggressive and although treatable grows back in 80% of patients. His tumor was over the size of a golf ball and was removed on May 28, 2015. On top of this devastating news, he also had a small stroke. Steve has also been struggling with an autoimmune disorder called Common Variable Immune Deficiency (CVID) for over 10 years. There are not many doctors who know much about (or how to treat) this disease. His CVID treatments are thought to have caused the brain tumor. He is only 51 years old and we have 2 sons, ages 27 and 14. He is unable to work and has to be in he hospital every other week for one form of chemotherapy and the other chemotherapy he receives is on an outpatient basis. Our 14 year old son has special needs and needs us both. I'm working but we are struggling. This is difficult for us to do; between medical costs, housing bills, and the decrease in income being received (from him being on STD soon to be LTD) we need help. Bills are already beginning to pile up and I've tapped into most of our savings. The Schwartz Family can use all the help possible in keeping the rising costs under control while they care for Steve. Everything & anything helps and is greatly appreciated. Prayers are especially welcomed.
