Stewart Hatler Loses Home in Devastating Fire
My name is Marney Mercado and Stewart Hatler is my grandfather. Last Thursday Aug. 26 , Stewart, a lifelong Tuolumne County resident, and a friend to many lost his home in the devastating Washington Fire in Sonora, Ca. He watched in horror as his house and propane tank blew up. For a second he considered fighting the fire from his wheel chair with a hose, but his friend and neighbor picked him up and threw him in the car. His arms were slightly burnt and the vehicle they escaped in is badly melted. Over the years he has provided countless families with housing. We are asking for help to begin clean up and possibly rebuild his home. When Stewart was told that his house was gone he said, " I guess I need to buy new socks!" His fighting spirit continues and if you know Stewart he has plans to rebuild.
Thank you so much for helping in anyway you can. We really appreciate it!!
