Hello, I am Sonephet Manivong, owner of Sticky Rice in Grand Island, Nebraska. I have been proving quality Thai, Lao, and Chinese cuisines from my Sticky Rice food truck in Grand Island for almost a decade.
As a 1996 Grand Island Senior High graduate, I learned my cooking skills from my uncle, who owns the Sticky Rice restaurant in Ithaca, N.Y. I got the food truck idea from seeing the food truck culture in New York. I have always wanted to own a business, so it was the perfect pairing.
Our dream is to create a space that connects people to a place that they have never been with culinary cuisines from Thailand, Lao, and China. Through the years, we have seen demand for our cuisine continued to increase. Now it is time to expand.
COVID-19 has impacted all aspects of our lives, for me, it was the unfortunate loss of funding for my restaurant startup. I am still hopeful of growing my business, expanding the customer experience, and creating new job opportunities for the community.
We are bootstrapping this project and want to give you, our fans and supporters, a chance to receive some perks and to be a part of this exciting endeavor!
The funds raised here will help us to purchase the necessary equipment to startup the restaurant.
We understand that this comes with a sense of uncertainty and possible concern, that consumers are being more cautious with going out or dining out due to the spread of the coronavirus and flu. We want to assure you that we will be doing everything within our power, and in accordance with CDC suggested guidelines, to provide you with a safe and enjoyable dining experience.
Going out to dinner is supposed to be an opportunity to laugh with friends, enjoy a delicious meal, and let the worries of the world fall to the wayside for a little while. We are looking forward to providing you with that experience again soon.
