STIGMA OF ADDICTION DOCUMENTARY

Donation protected
Our documentary Series, "Stigma of Addiction," will bring awareness to the addiction crises in the United States in hopes of healing our communities to build sustainable and successful futures.

The objective of this riveting and shocking 70-minute documentary is to sound the alarm to government officials, to people in our community and law enforcement units so the people who need help can get it.  Substance abuse and addiction affect different areas, such as broken families, destroyed careers, death due to negligence or accident, domestic violence, physical abuse, and child abuse.

We have been able to get this far, but need your help in order to complete our film.  Please consider donating to help bring awareness to this disease.  Any little bit helps!

Let us break the stigma.  Addiction is not a crime, it's a disease.

Please note that we will be donating 10% of funds collected to the Tina Daily Foundation.  To learn more about this foundation, please visit  www.thetinadaileyfoundation.org

About the film:

Our documentary Series, "Stigma of Addiction," will bring awareness to the addiction crises in the United States in hopes of healing our communities to build sustainable and successful futures.

The objective of this riveting and shocking 70-minute documentary is to sound the alarm to government officials, to people in our community and law enforcement units so the people who need help can get it.  Substance abuse and addiction affect different areas, such as broken families, destroyed careers, death due to negligence or accident, domestic violence, physical abuse, and child abuse.

Drug abuse and addiction change your brain chemistry. The longer you use your drug of choice, the more damage is done – and the harder it is to go back to “normal” during drug rehab. Drug abuse and addiction is a chronic, relapsing, compulsive disorder that often requires formal treatment, and may call for multiple courses of treatment.

Social and cultural factors also impact treatment. Cultures, where drinking is considered shameful, may cause alcoholics to hide their condition and avoid treatment due to the stigma of being labeled an alcoholic.

We are here in order to create a documentary series that not only showcases this serious matter but also accurately informs and catches the public's attention.  Our goal is to commence an investigation on this concerning topic. Gathering enough knowledge from law enforcement units professionals, experts' testimonies and victim/users, etc. Their aim is to factually tell the stories of the affected, provide an authentic history of the events, spread an instructive message, and further create an outstanding film that will reflect alluringly, the significance of this subject.

Addiction is dangerous on many levels, regardless of the vice: alcohol, heroin, opioids, street drugs.

Opioids, often called painkillers, are a type of drug commonly used to treat patients that are suffering from acute pain. There is a great misconception when it comes to the safety of these medications. Youngsters are often clouded by the fallacy of these drugs, and end up misusing it for their pleasure. Some teens may use these drugs to deal with stress since they aren't informed of the risks of taking drugs that aren't specifically prescribed for a certain condition.

On the other hand, a large number of teens use opioids to get that "high" feeling that other street drugs such as alcohol, marijuana, and other much more powerful ones like cocaine or methamphetamine, give them.  Despite their medical use, these pharmaceuticals can also produce a state of euphoria, which is what makes them prone to mishandle. The delusion that being a medicine makes it a safer drug is disturbingly common among the younger generations, who are now taking them for recreational purposes and often times mixing them with heavy street drugs.
This information needs to be disseminated; every day, an alarming number of young people are developing serious addictions and, consequently, a great deal of them are also dying from overdoses.

In general, however, there are a number of signs that drug abuse or alcohol abuse is a serious problem. If you recognize some or all of the following things happening to someone you care about or happening in your own life, drug abuse may be an issue that needs to be addressed in treatment:

- Isolating from family and friends who don’t use drugs
- Spending time with new friends or friends who get high or drink
- Never having the money or often asking to borrow money, even for small items
- Showing up late to work/school or not showing up at all
- Losing a job
- Doing little to find a job if out of work
- Paying less attention to basic hygiene
- Changes in sleeping habits
- Extremely private about possessions, including their bag, room, or car.

Lying about using or drinking
Sneaking away to get high or drunk.  You may find hidden bottles of alcohol or drug paraphernalia among your loved one’s belongings. Personality changes often occur with substance abuse and addiction. You or your loved one may be more irritable or agitated, and even blow off commitments or family.

Real stories, real families who decided to make a change.

"
Kyle Cole Dodds was that child that people would stop and stare and say, "what a beautiful child" White blond hair, freckles, the all American kid raised by a family that adored him and promoted his talents.  And, then it happened, a legal opioid prescription for pain at 15.  The monster woke up and began it's insidious pursuit of  hijacking of Kyle's brain.  So, if this can happen to us, please look around you, because it can happen to anyone.  Let's get the word out, to save this generation."
