Still Rise Farm Cancer Community Garden Project

The cancer community is one no one ever hopes to join, but many of us are members. Whether we are patients, providers, caregivers, advocates, or other support ecosystems, we know firsthand how the disease takes away more than health. It can create isolation and erode our sense of peace and confidence in our bodies and ourselves.

 

This fundraiser is to build a community garden at Still Rise Farm in Perkasie, PA. We are a 39-acre incubator farm for integrative wellness and support for those facing cancer and chronic illnesses. It is a place where we hope to bring together communities of all races, gender, religion, and abilities for the common goal of helping us remember how food can be medicine, connecting us with the land to draw healing from it with all of our senses. Our purpose is to assist all those who visit to begin the very necessary work of envisioning what wellness looks like for them, despite their diagnosis or treatment journey.

 

To accomplish this goal, Still Rise is seeking your support to build a community garden and gathering space like no other. The garden will be comprised of an orchard and assorted vegetables, berries and medicinal herbs. It will contain multiple entrances, wide walking paths, raised beds for those with physical accommodations, a greenhouse, and a centrally located community circle (with seating) from which the four paths originate. This space will serve as the virtual heartbeat of the farm, where those who receive from the land can leave gifts for those yet to come, through community gardening utilizing sustainable and indigenous best practices. Through quieting the voices without and within, we hope everyone who leaves will have a transcendent experience and a roadmap for healthier living .
