Life Changing Procedure

Hello all, my name is Tonya. Thank you for visiting my page. A little background about myself, I’m a 34 year old woman that has suffered with diabetes, over half my life. At 16 years of age, I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. Not only do I battle diabetes, I also battle PCOS, Endometriosis, Tachycardia, Sleep Apnea, Stage 1 Renal Failure, Acid Reflux, Gastrointestinal issues and of course depression/anxiety. For over 9 years, I have done every diet, joined gyms and did all I could. For 8 years, I’ve been around the same weight. I’ve asked many of doctors what else I can do, all to be told that my body fights against me.

I’m recently married to the love of my life, who also battles many medical issues. Within the last year, my health has steadily decreased. A little over a year ago, I found out that I’m insulin resistant and my diabetes was not responding to the insulin injections. Because of my diabetes, I have developed many other issues, such as Stage 1 Renal Failure. I was told that Gastric Bypass was my only chance of reversing the insulin resistance. This was definitely not what I wanted, I’ve went many other directions. Unfortunately, none have worked. Changing my whole life has only bought me a little of change. Definitely not what is needed to make a healthy lifestyle.

March 2020 I had my first appointment with the doctor to discuss Gastric Bypass. I was approved for all pre-op appointments. I went through 7 months of appointments, following the diet, attending support meetings and finally receiving a date for surgery, all to be denied 2 weeks before my surgery. I’ve filed a grievance, I’ve filed appeals, all to be told that my insurance can only cover the pre-op but not the actual surgery. This has been very disheartening. As I prayed and prayed, believing this was what I would need for my life to be healthy.

I’ve never been a person to ask for help from other, especially like this. If you find it in your heart to help me, I promise you, you will never know the gratitude and appreciation I will have for you.
