Hello!
We are Denver North's Black Masque Theatre. North High School has a rich history of amazing drama. Sadly, four years ago the program was in ruins. The once proud theatre was used as office supply storage, only one drama class existed as an elective and only a few showcases ran each year, produced by students.
During past three years, the program has been restored, trying to reclaim some of the pride and glory the Black Masque Theatre once held. Last year we did “Macbeth” and “Little Shop of Horrors”. This past fall was “Arsenic and Old Lace,” a timeless classic. The show stunned audiences and rejuvenated the pride in our drama program.
To continue to the incredible progress, we were ambitious this season and decided to put on “Grease”. Putting on a musical, especially a musical as big as Grease, requires money that we don't have. Sets, musical scores, rights, lights, costumes, microphones-- all cost money. Performing “Grease” will grow our program (big popular musicals always bring in newcomers), give us fantastic memories, and the satisfaction of pulling it off.
That's where you come in! On behalf of all of our thespians, your support will be priceless in terms of the fun the show will entice, the skills our actors and crew will learn, and the pride of the parents and community members in the audience. North High School is an essential part of our community. The Black Masque Theatre is one of the many wonderful facets that will draw students, build bridges across our diverse population, and teach invaluable lessons of life, love and sometimes tragedy.
Please give what you are able and with all of the love in our hearts we thank you and invite you to our showings May 5-7, 2016! If we make our $5,000 goal by the time auditions run in February, we will have everything we need to launch this ambitious production!
Thank you,
