Help The Dorm Parents Stock School Food Pantries

Donation protected
Greetings Neighbors! My name is Phyllis Collier and I am the founder of the Dorm Parents program. I am a native of Pike County, GA and a mother of 4 adult children. I raised 4 of my own children and took in 3 additional children. Many people know me for my giving heart toward those in need and my involvement in Community Outreach over the past several years. I assisted in the forming of the Collier’s food bank which serves Butts, Pike, Clayton, Spalding and surrounding South Atlanta Metro area counties. I was also very involved in feeding the hungry before, during, and after the recent COVID outbreak. The Collier Community food bank provided meats, fresh fruits, and vegetables, household and essential items to thousands of families in need.

With the help of others, I was able to assist three of my children in getting college degrees. Because I remembered the struggle of being a single parent, I had a God-given desire to assist other college students as well. I am also the founder of the Dorm Parents program, which has been active for 1 year. The program supplies the necessary toiletries to college students in need of items such as bath gels, deodorants, toothpaste, and other hygiene products. I've traveled to various colleges delivering these items at no charge to the students or school. The financial burden of fuel for vans as well as workers became too great for me to carry alone; as a result, I was not able to continue serving the colleges. Nevertheless, the compassionate drive is still present in my heart.

Presently, I serve middle & elementary school teachers, scholars and school communities to meet the need for hygiene products, snacks, school supplies and clothing items for children and families. My commitment to public education runs deep. As a result, teachers in the schools serviced by Dorm Parents, receive a $25 Dorm Parent gift certificate EVERY month of service. \

The funds donated to the Dorm Parent program will be used to purchase additional vans to transport items to the schools, fuel for vans, payment for distribution employees and cost for storage to maintain the items and supplies for the Dorm Parents Program for the 2023-2024 academic school year. Please feel free to visit our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/thedormparent for testimonials and clips from recent donations. We would love to partner with YOU to ensure our teachers, students, families and school communities continue to receive this valuable support this school year. If you are able, please DONATE and SHARE this community project on your socials!!!
