Stockport Metro Artistic Swimming Club Summer Challenge

In Olympics month, our artistic swimmers are going to attempt to swim the driving distance from London to Paris - almost 300 miles between them (which is 19,200 laps of the 25m pool!)

1 mile = 1600m = 64 laps of a 25m pool. Sponsor per metre, per mile or an overall amount! All proceeds go towards equipment, costumes, kit, prizes for the team. We're aiming for 10 miles each!

Did you know that Stockport is the home to a phenomenal group of athletes? Sure you did, but you might not realise just what kind of athletes we are talking about!

Stockport is the home to the Stockport Metro Artistic Swimming Team – an amazing group of kids who compete nationally and internationally to represent Stockport (and Great Britain) in artistic swimming.

If you’re wondering what artistic swimming is, think of it like this…

Could you run a 100m sprint, whilst holding your breath, smiling, and looking graceful?

Artistic swimming is tough! And the kids at the club work extremely hard (some of them are in the pool every day of the week practising) to be the best versions of themselves.

As an artistic swimming team we are small but mighty – and rely on support from others to help us to achieve our goals.

How can you help? We hear you cry?

Well… we are in desperate need of a new ipad (for our music, and we film our routines then watch them back to see how we can improve).

We also need a portable pre-charged speaker (we can’t hear the music under water so need a speaker that allows for this).

They are the two big needs right now, but there are also some things that might seem trivial but would really help us to connect as a team so we are also trying to raise funds to be able to purchase some of these. Things like matching apparel, team water bottles and swag, and some great performance costumes – these make a difference when it comes to competitions!
