Stone Collier family donation fund

Donation protected

The purpose of donating to this Go Fund Me is to provide care for a wonderful family who was struck by sudden tragedy.

On June 19th, 2022 Shannon Collier (Stone) gave birth to a healthy, happy perfect baby boy Stone Charles Collier. In an unfathomable turn of events, Shannon developed rare postpartum complications, and after fighting for her family, she did not survive.

Shannon and her husband, Kent Collier, were a wonderfully happy married couple who were so looking forward to starting the next chapter of their life. Shannon and Kent were lifelong Madisonians who met at college at UW-Whitewater. They met in July 2011 when they became next-door neighbors. Shannon had moved into her sorority house (Sigma Sigma Sigma), and Kent was finishing a year living at his fraternity, Phi Chi Epsilon. In those few short weeks of living next door, a budding romance blossomed, and they never looked back. After college, they returned to Madison to build their lives together. Shannon would often tell anyone who would listen how wonderful, caring and loving her husband is. She knew how great of a father he would be to her son; however, she had had no idea he would have to face the adversity of raising a child without his partner and best friend.

Shannon was no stranger to adversity herself; she lost her father on December 15th 2021, just six months before her passing and just a few weeks after telling him her blessing of a child. She and her father were so close the loss hit her so hard. She felt such grief for her father at a time when she should have been so happy for the answered prayer of her pregnancy. It breaks my heart that her husband now must also endure this rollercoaster of emotions again while he grieves the love of his life while embracing fatherhood and the child they wanted more than anything.

In her professional life, Shannon was a passionate and adamant supporter of public education. Shannon dedicated nine years to teaching middle school at Nikolay Middle School in Cambridge and at Lake Mills Middle School. She most recently served as an assistant principal, with JEDI, where she was able to help countless students adapt and thrive in e-learning. Shannon’s teaching philosophy was to build strong relationships through empathy, caring and trust. Shannon was beloved by students, parents and faculty. She developed such strong bonds even with the most challenging of students. She was the kindest and most genuine person many of us will ever have the privilege to know. Shannon impacted countless students in a deep and profound way. She cared for those students as if they were her own children; I only hope a small fraction of those families sees this message.

Her friends and family knew the type of loving, caring person she was. Her love, kindness, and bubbly personality resonated with her every interaction. She had the uncanny ability to make anyone’s day better. Her smile and laughter would fill an entire room, and she had a unique way of making us all feel special and important. She wore her heart on her sleeve. She loved and cared about you and made sure you knew it.

Now she needs our help; her family needs our help, and her son needs our help. Kent and Stone face a tremendous road ahead; please help me ensure her family is supported in a small fraction of the way she would have.

Thank you in advance for your generosity, kindness, and support.
