Stone Family Relocation

The Stone family recently received life changing news: their son Hudson was tested for a mold sensitivity, and they discovered that he is hypersensitive to mold. Even without Hudson's other unique medical conditions, this is a major hurdle - but with his existing conditions, this mold sensitivity is causing major health issues for him.

Hudson is on the autism spectrum and has a rare heart defect called Short QT Syndrome, along with other major health challenges.  He has been through numerous struggles throughout his short 8 years of life, and his seriously awesome parents and three sisters have changed their entire lives to support him and take care of him.  This mold sensitivity is yet another challenge that has turned their lives upside down.

After discovering Hudson's mold sensitivity, the Stones immediately had their house tested for mold by two separate companies. The house was tested for mold using air quality testing, surface swab testing, and dust sample testing. The results confirmed bad news: their rental home had 10 times the level of healthy mold. This is livable (although not healthy) for an average person, but Hudson's body is completely unable to fight against the mold toxicity. His doctor told Dan and Melissa that they need to move out of their house immediately.  They had to find temporary housing within just days.

On top of it all, their van broke down just a day before they had to move out of their home.

The Stones also met with a mold hygienist to determine if they could keep their furniture and belongings.  The good news is that they can keep a lot of their stuff!  But they do need to buy a new dining room set, new beds, new couches, and a lot of smaller household items that they weren't able to sanitize properly to protect from future mold contamination.  These items must be new and not used to ensure they haven't been exposed to water damage and mold.

In order to find a safe new house, the Stones must purchase a home.  This was not in their financial plan for the immediate future, but it's the safest and most cost effective option since they'll need to do mold testing and potentially remediation on whatever house they move into next.  Dan and Melissa have done a phenomenal job doing their homework, and have not only pre-qualified for a home loan, but have also worked with different mold specialists to determine the best way to find a new home for their family.

The Stones' lives were turned upside down over the last couple of weeks: another diagnosis for Hudson, finding temporary housing and moving a family of six within just a couple of days, losing one of their cars, discovering that they need to purchase a home and new furniture, learning that they have to repeat the same expensive mold testing they just did on their old house, and preparing to potentially pay for mold remediation and mold-prevention measures (like an HRV unit for their AC, carpet removal, etc) in whatever home they buy.

The Stones have done an amazing job being frugal and doing their homework on all of these needs, but this is a huge financial burden for one family to carry.  Please help us support this family as they find a safe place for their son to live.

Funds donated will be used to pay for: purchasing a new home and making it safe for Hudson (mold prevention measures, additional mold testing, etc), replacing the items they had to get rid of (couches, beds, tons of small household items, etc.), moving costs, and a new car.
