Stop accusations of witchcraft today
Donation protected
In the last ten years, at least twenty thousand people around the world have been killed, injured, or otherwise suffered harm in ritual attacks or after being accused of witchcraft. These attacks have taken place in fifty countries, on every inhabited continent. Witch hunts and ritual attacks are a current, world-wide problem.
Who are we? The International Network Against Accusations of Witchcraft and Associated Harmful Practices was established in 2023. Our aim is to draw attention to the human rights abuses experienced by people who are accused of being witches, often by members of their family or community, or subjected to ritual attacks.
Why are we on GoFundMe? Many small organizing initiatives and NGOs across the world are struggling to provide care and support for survivor and to prevent further attacks in their communities. We are establishing a small grants program to assist these organizations and their efforts.
What are YOU doing here? We need your support to establish this program! Any money donated will be distributed directly to the organizations doing this work. They will use this money to provide aid to people who have been hurt or forced out of their homes after being accused of witchcraft or being subjected to ritual attacks, or to maintain educational initiatives that help stop these attacks before they start.
What kinds of groups do we work with?
- Voice for Change (Jiwaka province, PNG), which provides direct aid to survivors and helps them to take their cases through the court system
- Community Good (Hela province, PNG), which provides a safe house for survivors and assists them in growing their own food
- St Joan of Arc (Port Moresby, PNG), which provides direct aid to survivors and helps them to take their cases through the court system
- Advocacy for Alleged Witches, based in Nigeria, which provides direct aid to survivors of witch hunts and does educational outreach to prevent further accusations
- Andha Shraddha Nirmoolan Samiti, based in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, is dedicated to supporting survivors through awareness campaigns and educational outreach that combats superstition and promotes rational thinking.
You will find clear guidelines for applying for and use of funds on our website when we have the funds to establish our seed funding grants (https://www.theinternationalnetwork.org/).
What will your donation do?
- Support the provision of food and accommodation to victims of witch-hunts and their families
- Assist victims of witch-hunts in navigating the legal system if they choose to use it
- Support awareness campaigns on the issue designed and led by local champions within their own communities
