Stop Alexander's Deportation To Russia

This is our friend Alexander U. He is a musician, producer, lover of cats and avid reader. I have known Alexander for a decade, and his friend Frank has known him since they were children together in St. Petersburg.

In 2010 Alexander and Frank fled Russia to the UK as they faced persecution as queer people. Both sought asylum here.

In 2020, after the death of his mother, Alexander became homeless.

In 2023, he was arrested after allegedly stealing a bottle of wine.

in 2024, he broke both his legs in an accident and endured months long recovery from which he is still healing.

In 2025, he has been sentenced to 30 months in prison, and now has been issued a 28-day notice that he is to be deported to Russia.

If deported, he not only faces further persecution as a queer person, but also potentially being conscripted into the military and forced to fight in Ukraine.

On Monday we met with the immigration lawyers supporting him and they said there is a good chance of preventing his deportation if we move quickly.

They quoted a cost of £5k. We need to raise a deposit of £2.5k to proceed. Anything you can give will help us towards this goal.

Time is of the absolute essence as he could be deported imminently. We need a deposit to instruct the lawyers to put in a delay was we assemble his appeal.

We are desperately trying to raise funds to pay for legal support for Alexander to halt his deportation and allow him leave to remain in the UK as a refugee and asylum seeker.

He has been moved from Thameside to High Point prison, which means we are unable to visit him.

Any funds or letters of support would be greatly received and all would be used to help secure a safe future for Alexander. Please share this wherever you can, and please hear us when we say that deportation to Russia would seriously endanger Alexander's life.
