STOP DESERT FLOWER CAMPING RESORT ON CR110 TAOS NEW MEXICO
Special Use Permit No: SUP – 001 – 2021 Filed by Desert Flower Camping Resort LLC (“the DF Campground” or “the Applicant” )
The proposed glamping resort is 30 feet from the nearest neighbor and 100 feet from the next. The resort will increase the population of our residential neighborhood ten fold while blocking the vista for most homes in 1/2 mile of the development. It will devalue all of our properties.
The image of the resort only shows half the tents and does not show the two houses right next to the tents!!! The proposal is misleading.
The glamping resort will increase traffic on CR110 that leads to the BLM overlook trail. With the addition of the trailhead parking lot at the end of CR110, our neighborhood has been severely impacted by the degradation of CR110 due to increased traffic and the lack of road maintenance and vehicle speed mitigation.
The Taos Planning Commissioners on May 3, 2021 voted three in favor and 2 opposed to the resort. Thus, an appeal is needed. We have only 30 days for appeal!
We have a well written opposition with several hours of work by an attorney in the neighborhood that cites all the regulations, but it was not considered by the planning commissioners.
This fundraiser is to pay for a specialty land use attorney for the appeals and litigation process. It will also help us as a neighborhood with outreach, flyers and gathering everyone to protect our land. We will need to individually write all landowners in the area as the specialty use permit only requires they notify owners in 1000 feet of the development. As a neighborhood we had less than two weeks to rally and had over 100 signatures against the proposal and a well written rebuttal that was not considered by the planning commissioners!
