Stop Immigrant Family Eviction in Troy
Donation protected
UPDATE: Since we raised the family's rent in three hours (YOU FOLKS ARE AMAZING), we're adjusting the goal to take care of next month, too. Let's get these folks some housing security, y'all.
Troy Sanctuary Campaign is raising money for an immigrant family in Troy who need to pay $720 in rent by January 15 or face eviction proceedings. The family's breadwinner is legally unable to work, so money is very tight this winter. They're doing their best to maintain a stable routine for the children; but even if they can find alternative housing (difficult under the circumstances), a sudden move would be very disruptive and traumatizing for the whole family.
On top of the financial hardship, in the current climate of escalated enforcement by ICE, their identities must remain strictly confidential for their safety. This has been a very isolating experience, and every day that they live with housing insecurity is an assault on their mental health.
We're trusting you to understand both the urgency of their situation and the need for anonymity; and in that spirit, we hope that you'll share this appeal widely, and help us reach the goal in the first 48 hours. Any money raised in excess of $720 will go toward February's rent and groceries. Thanks, solidarity, and happy new year.
