Prevent My Dad Becoming Homeless
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Sophie and I’m fundraising to help my Dad keep his home.
Alan sustained a life changing brain haemorrhage back in 2011 which was the start of many months and multiple readmissions to the ICU, multiple invasive surgeries and many complications. I was told it was unlikely he would survive.
Against all odds he pulled through, yet he’s never fully recovered.
It’s left a lasting impact on his ability to look after himself and has had a big impact on his mental, physical and emotional health.
He has been unable to work and his home was put under an interest only mortgage.
Last week I received an urgent email, from the charity that supports him, saying that his mortgage would be up in May this year (2.5 months from now) and if he doesn’t pay the remaining balance he faces homelessness.
Today I was told how much he still owes (£47,244.87)
He is a vulnerable 75 year old man who, due to his circumstances, is at risk of facing even more stress and hardship.
Due to my own circumstances, I am not in a position to be able to support him financially. I also live 250 miles away from him making logistical support near impossible.
It has been flagged with the local council and social services but due to him owning “assets” (the home he’s set to lose) there has been a question mark over whether they can support. We are also having to wait on a mental capacity assessment.
The money this page raises will hopefully cover at least some of the remaining balance of his mortgage which is £47,244.87.
Any surplus will go towards travel costs and temporary accommodation to enable me to visit him, legal support that is needed, and anything thereafter will be put towards the next steps in Dad’s care.
Every donation helps as well as sharing this page to reach as many people as possible
Thank you in advance,
