Stop starvation in Haiti

My name is Gary Blair. I have been associated with the Eben-Ezer Mission of Gonaives, Haiti, for almost 20 years. Haiti is going through a terrible time of chaos and turmoil. Gangs have taken over most of the capital city of Haiti, Port-Au-Prince. The port in Gonaives is closed, so food is a scarce commodity today. As such, the cost of food has tripled. The average family in Haiti lives on about $400 per year. Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, and they are almost on the doorstep of the United States. The UN and other aid organizations have difficulty getting food into Haiti with no ports open.
The streets are littered with the bodies of people who have starved to death. Eben-Ezer Mission runs an orphanage and has many children to keep fed. The children are lucky to get one meal a day, and now they sometimes go for several days with nothing to eat.
Since the ports have closed, Eben-Ezer has to buy food through the Dominican Republic. At least they can at least get food, but they must pay dearly for it. Haiti needs our help.
A message from Pastor Michel Morriset, the leader of Eben-Ezer Mission:
"Usually, leaders of Church organizations don't live in the premises of their offices or activities. In the case of Eben-Ezer Mission, the leaders, including missionaries, live right on campus where there are schools, an orphanage and a hospital. Eben-Ezer partners with World Food Program, Food For the Poor and other charity organizations in food distribution. Because of the long-lasting political turmoil, food and all the needs of first necessities that are imported have become scarce. The population is facing famine. Eben-Ezer has used everything it had in storage and is struggling to feed the children of its orphanage. All day long, people are knocking at our gates, looking for help. "
Please give to this worthy cause. All the money will go towards buying food for the orphaned children and other citizens in Gonaives. Our goal is to be able to buy an entire shipping container of food. The cost may exceed $30,000. Here is a recent quote for food from the Dominican Republic.
Many Haitians come to Eben-Ezer searching for something to eat. Here are photos from the Mission.
