Stop the Bruckner Up Zoning

We are the Bronx Coalition Against Up Zoning Inc.   Our community is being sought after by developers and we need your help to keep our area Down zoned.  We are a protected community as it relates to zoning.  Contractors cannot build structures taller than 35 ft tall.  Please help us challenge contractors who are looking to up zone our community.   Together along with other concerned residents, we have created a new organization called Bronx Coalition Against Up Zoning to fight against greedy developers trying to change our beautiful community as we know and love it.  Below is information on a threat that has come to our community.

 

On September 21, 2020, Throggs Neck Associates LLC. Sent a request in writing to NYC Planning Commissioner Hon. Marisa Lago to amend the zoning map for Blocks and Lots across Bruckner Blvd from Crosby to Gifford Ave allowing 4 initial sites, but including an additional 31 sites which can become a series of buildings with potentially thousands of additional units of what the developers are calling "Affordable Housing" , but we call overcrowding. Each building would be a 5 to 8 story building, Unfortunately, our community only learned of this upZoning request in July of this year.

 

 

If this up zoning is approved, it will usher in a new era in Throggs Neck and will allow all developers in the future to request up zoning and variances to build large buildings throughout our community. If we do not put a stop to this before it begins, our community and our way of life will never be the same. Our schools will be more crowded, our parking will be worse than it already is, our property values will deflate, while our infrastructure which is already overburdened, will become a larger burden on our Police, Fire and Sanitation Departments, and our NYC Sewer Lines which couldn’t handle Storm IDA in our community where thousands were flooded from sewer back ups.

 

We must demand a stop to this application. This is not only about one building or development. This is about the future of our community. If we allow this up zoning to take place, our community will soon become more large buildings and will reduce our quality of life.

 

Please help us raise money so we can hire a legal team and fight fire with fire. The developers have powerful legal teams on their side, and we must respond with strength in numbers as well as legal challenges where applicable.
