Stop clearcutting of "Stilly Revisited" legacy forest NOW!

Donation protected
Legacy Forest Defense Coalition (LFDC) will file a lawsuit by July 3, 2024, against the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to save the mature and old growth forest known as the "Stilly Revisited" timber sale. Funds will be provided to LFDC in order for them to continue their important legal work to stop this devastating timber sale.

This is a way for the community to directly help stop the cutting of one of WA's oldest, legacy forests.

Any funds that are raised that exceed the legal costs of the Stilly Revisited lawsuit will go towards funding LFDC's 4 other lawsuits to protect legacy forests similar to Stilly.

More about Stilly Revisited:

Stilly Revisited is on steep hillsides above the North Fork Stillaguamish River (a few miles downstream from the infamous Oso landslide) in Snohomish County, WA. It includes 150+ acres of legacy forest, including residual old-growth western red cedars between 72” and 120” in diameter. Many of the cedars and hemlocks are over 200 years old, and portions of this sale have never been logged! Stilly is located directly above a residential neighborhood, raising concerns over potential erosion risks.

Grants Creek, just 150 feet north of the unit, provides habitat for endangered salmon species including Steelhead and Chinook. There are restoration efforts underway by the Stillaguamish Tribe in this part of the watershed, yet this timber sale could have significant negative impacts on water quantity and quality.

Legacy forests of the Pacific Northwest are our best natural climate solution. They store and sequester more carbon than any other forest type on the planet. The moment is now to oppose clearcutting our legacy forests and turning them into monocrop plantations.
