Stop the Gladstone Estate Build

STOP THE GLADSTONE ESTATE BUILD
is a residents campaign in the community of Hawarden, spanning the villages of Aston, Ewloe, Hawarden and Mancot. We are campaigning against the Gladstone Estate and Flintshire County Council's proposed development of more than 280 houses on green barrier land in between Ash Lane in Mancot and Park Avenue in Hawarden. This proposed development will only exacerbate already existing issues with schools, flooding, doctor surgeries, traffic etc. as well as being an act of environmental and community destruction. It will also serve to effectively merge (or coalesce) the two distinct settlements of Mancot and Hawarden, destroying their individual village identities.

We are looking to raise a small campaign fund so that we can bring our message onto the streets of the community by designing and purchasing placards that can be erected in people's front gardens across the local area. We also would like to fund thousands of leaflets to be put through the doors of the community making them aware of these plans, as well as newspaper adverts.

Due to the pandemic and associated restrictions, much of our campaigning has been restricted to online and social media. By being able to purchase more traditional campaign materials, we will be able to reach those who don't use social media. We want to be able to show the Gladstone Estate, Flintshire County Council and the Inspector, that the communities of Hawarden are united in their opposition to these dangerous plans. This development is most definitely for the benefit of the very few, and to the detriment of the Hawarden Community.

We understand that times are hard at the moment with the pandemic and any help, no matter how small, will be greatly appreciated as we campaign to save the identity and environment of our local area.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT.

As we are a small volunteer-run campaign, the group does not have its own bank account. All money raised will be held on behalf of the campaign by one of the members. In the interests of transparency, we commit to:
- Providing expenditure reports that will be published on the campaign website so you know exactly what your donation has been spent on
- At the end of the campaign, we will donate any unspent money to Flintshire Foodbank

Because of UK law, donations over £500 may have to be reported to the Electoral Commission.
