Stop the Pimmit Pipeline!

NOTE: This fundraiser was to support the legal fund for initial Fairfax Circuit Court Cast in fall 2023. That case was decided in favor of Washington Gas's favor and is being appealed. Please see this fundraiser to support the appeal: https://www.gofundme.com/f/stop-the-pimmit-pipeline-appeal-process2
------------
As a courtesy to a group of Pimmit Hills residents, PHCA is collecting funds in an effort to support their legal battle. The residents are seeking to raise $45,000 to cover legal fees for ongoing court litigation in an effort to prevent a planned 2-foot wide high pressure gas pipeline routed through the Pimmit Hills neighborhood.
While the previously proposed alternate route was alongside and outside the Pimmit Hills neighborhood via Magarity Road and Route 7, the current planned route will run through Pimmit Hills down Peabody and Fisher Drive, to Cherri Drive via Leonard Road, and back out of Pimmit Hills via Pimmit Drive to Route 7 by the Trader Joe's.
Background:
In late February 2022, thanks to the neighborhood’s efforts led by Evan Johns at Appalachian Mountain Advocates, Pimmit Hills won a legal victory against Washington Gas. By a vote of 6-1, the Fairfax County Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) concluded that Washington Gas may not replace the current Route 7 transmission pipeline by routing a new line through Pimmit Hills unless they go through additional successful reviews by both of the following groups:
1) Fairfax County Board of Supervisors
AND
2) Fairfax County Planning Commission hearing
Washington Gas has filed a lawsuit in Virginia court to try and nullify the BZA's ruling, naming the Pimmit Hills residents who went before the BZA, the BZA itself, and the Fairfax County Zoning Department as defendants. This GoFundMe is to pay for legal representation for those residents. It is currently estimated that $45,000 will likely be required for this effort (note: when we started this campaign last year, the initial estimate was $23,000, but there have been unforeseen delays in the case. Please see updates for details).
PHCA has posted this GoFundMe campaign as a courtesy to these residents and with the understanding that many in the community support their effort.
Any unused funds will be donated to the Pimmit Hills Citizens' Association.
