Stop the reckless rollout of unreliable power

It is now clear that the Australian Government is determined to recklessly accelerate an untenable and extremely risky "Powering Australia Plan" that precipitously phases out reliable coal and gas power amidst ever-increasing electricity demand. Their planned rapid adoption of so-called "renewables," their hasty positioning, plus their billion-dollar price tag will result in the destruction of many hectares for commercial solar, for numerous onshore and offshore wind turbines, as well as for over 10,000km of HV transmission lines. This places Australia at risk: threatening our precious environment, encompassing blue, green and traditional lands, and endangering wildlife. Additionally, it jeopardizes our farmlands and economy, all at a considerable expense to taxpayers, amounting to billions paid to foreign companies. Aspects of this industrialisation are neither environmentally clean nor sustainable. Most of these projects are being constructed in or close to regional coastal, farming, and/or traditional communities. This National Rally Against Reckless Renewables unites a diverse group of over 50 communities all adversely affected by these plans - many now well advanced. Our objective is to highlight to elected representatives and fellow Australians the substantial risks and costs involved. We advocate for a moratorium on the reckless rollout of renewables and call for a Senate Inquiry into the undisclosed costs and environmental risks and to request due diligence for such initiatives including the Capacity Investment Scheme, Rewiring the Nation, Offshore Wind Projects, and other rash energy projects proposed by the Labor Party. The Australian Government is responsible for mitigating the extreme risks posed by their rollout, and to engage authentically with communities in a transparent and accountable manner: acting rationally rather than recklessly.
