Stop Violence! Justice for Nico. Emergency Fund

This is my son Nico. To me of course he’s the most beautiful person alive. He is kind, caring, soft spoken and beautiful inside and out. He’s been crabbing in Alaska on and off since he was 18 years old. Living in a small town in the Pacific Northwest. Like many people, COVID shutdowns and work disruptions caused financial disparity and to top things off the government halted the crabbing season this year claiming there was an over harvest and a need to protect the supply. Hence, Nico has been in Washington state, waiting out the season. The night before last I received a call that no mother should ever have to get. My beautiful son was brutally attacked on the front lawn of his residence. The assailant was under the influence of some unknown substance and with an unimaginable force of violence he attacked, choking Nico into unconsciousness and then proceeded pummel his face with blunt force. The result, a closed head injury, concussion, broken jaw and several missing teeth. By the grace of God my boy us alive. However, due to madness in this country with its failed health system and overburdened and defunded law enforcement, Nico was released hastily instead of being sent via medcom to a larger hospital. The assailant still at large. He needs follow up with orthopedics to wire his jaw and plastic surgery to repair his open wounds. I am still in shock. I’ve been a nurse for over 20 years and have never seen such inhumane treatment of the uninsured. He will be scarred for life and the aftermath of his injuries are still yet to be seen. The local authorities have yet to find the assailant, in spite of the entire event being caught on his home surveillance, the rural mountains of Washington state makes a perfect hiding place for would be criminals and vagabonds. This is what political radicals create when they defund the police. They place everyone’s lives in danger. Our little family will forever be impacted by social injustice and a fractured healthcare system. My only hope is to bring Nico home. His needs are numerous, mentally, physically, morally and financially. I have contributed to many causes throughout the years, go fund me cries for help, but never did I think I would be in the position to ask for help. But here I am, on my knees in front of God begging for my son. Please help me bring Nico home, where I can care for him and get him the medical attention he needs. Believe me when I tell you, our healthcare system is fractured. There is no hope for the uninsured. Also, when you think the people who love you will always have your back, that’s a fantasy. We are all alone in this world on some level, and often times it’s perfect strangers who extend their hand of grace. So please, if we don’t know you, never met you, but you are in a position to help a good person who was harmed by another’s hands in a senseless act of violence, then please help me get Nico home before it’s too late.
