Stopping nearly 20 years of MS with HSCT
Donation protected
As some of you may or may not know I've had MS for nearly 20 years and while for the most part, I've been “ok”, participating in various combat sports, training, charity events, drastically changing my diet, daily meditation and technically, just "getting on with it", or at least trying to anyway. However, being on little to no modifying therapies for the majority of that time, my situation worsened resulting in my disability also worsening and can continue to, day after day which affects cognitive function, mental health and my balance as well as other things, hence the term “multiple”, giving a whole new perspective on humility.
Although I'm now on medication to slow it down, I'm fighting to stop my MS in it's tracks, in the hope that I can walk confidently next to my fiancée without crutches again and stay out of a wheelchair by following other MS fighters and hopefully undergo HSCT (Stem Cell Therapy). I may trip or fall sometimes, especially when crippling fatigue kicks in but I will always get back up. Always.
HSCT attempts to “reboot” the immune system, which is responsible for damaging the brain and spinal cord in MS. This treatment has shown very positive results in stopping MS in its tracks. It comes with a price tag. In total this cost $54,500 (approximately £43,000) in Russia or Mexico. This will cover the stem cell transplant treatment, carer, all medical costs incurred and flights.
With your help I will be able to travel to Russia or Mexico to undergo the procedure and stop this horrible disease
Thank you
Lee
