Storm Dana Relief for destroyed driveway
Donation protected
Storm Dana hit Comares on the 13th November depositing more than 250mm of rain in 8 hours overwhelming the Solano dam just 1km from us, causing devastation to villages east of Malaga including our own.
Our remote house sits around 30 metres directly above the Solano river and just 1km from the dam that burst its banks.
We suffered the destruction of our driveway which provides the only way in and out of our property. The volume of water coming from further up the mountains swept away huge sections of the driveway leaving crater-like holes and crevices that are impassable by car.
We and our local town of Comares and surrounding areas are also bearing the disaster of the water pump being swept away in the storm leaving the areas without water potentially until Christmas.
Being without a driveway and running water and with the walk to the closest town being arduous and taking close to 2 hours by foot, we are left especially vulnerable at this time.
We are looking to fundraise half of the quoted amount it will cost to repair the driveway.
We will receive a proper invoice soon, for now it is quoted to us by text message. We will update when it is received, and share updates along the way with receipts for expenses.
