Storm Darragh Clean Up - The Eternal Forest Trust

We are heartbroken.
Storm Darragh hit North West Wales with a vengeance last weekend and left destruction and devastation in it's wake.
Our beautiful forest which is the resting place of hundreds of people and pets, has been left devastated by the effects of the record breaking winds.
Please support us with the first phase of clearing up after the storm which will allow visitors back into the forest and enable us to facilitate immediate burials. Over 200 trees have been uprooted or damaged by the wind, at least half of which now need clearing or felling in order to make the woods safe, the work will then continue over the next year to clear and fell those away from paths or immediate danger, this is a very big job.
Our main priority for the duration of the clean up, will be to operate and work in a way that is sensitive and respectful to those who have been laid to rest here, this means that the work will be completed by our own team of highly trained professionals who always work with this in mind.
We are unable to welcome visitors or volunteers to the woods for the foreseeable future, and ask instead that those who wish to help, make a donation towards the astronomical costs of restoring our beautiful woods.

***UPDATE***

We are so pleased to have completed phase one of reopening the woods within a couple of short weeks, thanks to the support of our generous members and community and the hard work of our woodsmen.

Now that the paths are passable, we move on to the second phase of restoring the woods which includes clearing trees that have fallen away from the paths, that although pose no immediate danger do restrict access to plots and make it impossible for families to visit their loved ones. We also need to employ external contractors with specialist equipment to clear the trees that are dangerously overhanging the main road, and although the contractors we have appointed are working at a reduced rate and supporting us in every way they can, this still comes at great cost to the charity.
The final phase of the clear up will involve repairing our paths which have been damaged extensively by the storm and the torrential rain which followed.

We now estimate that the total cost of clearing the damage caused by Storm Darragh will be in the region of £18,000 and unfortunately these costs aren't recoverable from our insurance company. If you are able to support us in any way, either financially via this page or by attending one of our volunteer days and helping us with some of the lighter clearing work we would be very grateful.
