Stormi Emergency Vet bills
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Jodi and I'm trying to help a good friend, Kayla Simpson and her dog Stormi, with huge emergency vet bills. This was totally unexpected. She is only 3 years old and is a very loved baby.
Stormi started with the regular vet about a month ago when they noticed she was keeping her head hung low, cried if the other dogs brushed against her head and upper body, would rest her nose against us, wouldn't jump up on Kayla's bed at night or get up on the sofa and just kind of lethargic. Regular vet ran blood work and said she is fine but still gave antibiotics and pain pills. She called him after a few days and he said to go to an emergency vet. We went to valley central and they ran all the same blood tests and again said they can't find anything. This past Monday when Kayla got home from work within minutes she had a seizure. Kayla called valley central and they said to bring her right in. As she was trying to get her in the door there she had another seizure. Kayla and a nurse carried her inside. They ended up saying they can't find anything and she needs a specialist which will cost thousands. She called all specialists until she found one that could take her yesterday at 11am. As we were trying to walk her in she had another seizure. 5 vet people came running out to us with a gurney. It was actually nice to have that response. Our quote for yesterday and overnight until today is $5000. We will most likely have to make a decision today on what to do. The mri from yesterday showed a ton of extra cerebral spinal fluid pushing against the base of her brain and spinal cord. He said if it ruptures she will die. He gave meds to try to decrease the spinal pressure and phenobarbital for her seizures. He did a spinal tap to test for meningitis which he believes is the case. He started her on high doses of steroids and we are waiting to see how she responded.
Right now the bills are around $7000 and climbing. Anything you could contribute to help this amazing girl with would be greatly appreciated.
