Stormi & Mom need your help after brain injury.

Hello my name is Cathy Smith. I have set up this account in order to reach out to everyone for prayers and financial support for my niece, Erica and her 17 month old precious baby girl, Stormi.

Here is their story..

On Tuesday, January 24th Erica received a call that is every mother’s worst nightmare. Stormi was being airlifted to Children’s Hospital with multiple skull fractures. (She would later learn that she also had bleeding on her brain.) She made arrangements for her school-aged kids at home, and started the 3 and a half hour drive to Alabama, where Stormi and her 2 youngest sons were visiting their dad. Her only solace on that seemingly endless drive was that Stormi wasn’t alone and had her dad with her. She made it to the hospital late Tuesday night to find her normally sweet smiling baby girl was fighting for her life. Since then, she and Stormi’s dad haven’t left her side.

While there are still many unanswered questions as to how this happened and what the long-term affects will be, we do know that Erica needs help. Erica has been out of work since this happened and with the extent of Stormi’s injuries, it is unclear how long she will need to be out of work. The hospital provides 1 meal a day and they have been relying on the support of Erica’s family and friends to help with other meals and expenses, as well as caring for Stormi’s brothers and sisters.

Stormi continues to make small improvements daily, proving she is a strong little girl. But even after she is well enough to go home, there will undoubtedly be many follow-up appointments and after-care. Due to the distance Erica lives from Stormi’s dad and the rest of her family, she will handle most of this on her own while also caring for Stormi’s siblings. Erica is a working mom that depends on her ability to work to provide for her babies. She needs help covering living expenses such as rent, utilities, groceries, and transportation during Stormi’s recovery.
