STR Litigation Fund

Governor DeSantis has discriminated against Short Term Rental owners by closing vacation homes but allowing hotels, resorts, timeshares to stay open. Vacation rental homes have been closed since March 29 although there is no proof that STR homes present more risk than do hotels and other lodgings. Furthermore, Gov. DeSantis has said that the only areas in Florida that remain a geographical Covid-19 governmental concern of notable risk are Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach, Monroe counties.  Yet he closed vacation rentals INDEFINITELY in the entire state. The governor's ban on vacation rentals has also infringed upon homeowner fundamental rights to due process and rights to contract. This effort will fund an emergency lawsuit to ask courts to reinstate the right to rent vacation homes in Florida. (Karen Lugo is campaign sponsor.
