Ciao! Che tu sia finito qui per caso o per scelta, sono qui a raccontarti in breve di questo progetto che sto sviluppando e per il quale ho bisogno di un vostro, anche piccolo, aiuto per realizzarlo.

Il cortometraggio si chiama “Straniero - 外国人”, sì, con il doppio titolo in giapponese, il perché vi sarà presto chiaro.

Roma, anni ‘90. Fabio è un giovane regista emergente che sta sviluppando il suo primo film indipendente, un western che a suo dire cambierà il paradigma del genere. Ma qualcosa non sta funzionando come dovrebbe e arriva la tremenda notizia che i fondi per girare il film sono finiti. Non è certo possibile rassegnarsi e l’unica soluzione è provare a chiedere un extra all’unico che ha accettato di prestare dei soldi per il film: Enzo, uno strozzino di periferia decisamente poco raccomandabile. E non sarà certo Fabio a presentarsi una seconda volta a casa di Enzo per chiedergli l’aumento, bensì Kenji, un uomo giapponese dal misterioso passato che per volere del caso si è ritrovato a fare da assistente a Fabio sul set dopo un loro rocambolesco incontro giorni prima.

Riuscirà quindi Kenji, senza sapere mezza parola di italiano, a salvare il film convincendo Enzo a dargli un aumento?

Il corto è un action comedy che mischia le atmosfere e l’estetica degli spaghetti western di Sergio Leone agli yakuza movie di Takeshi Kitano.

Ragazzo dal passato turbolento, taciturno e dalla testa calda, cerca di sfuggire al suo passato nella yakuza trasferendosi in Italia. Ritrovatosi un po' per caso sul set di un film di un giovane esordiente, sarà presto trascinato in una spirale di problemi che solo la violenza può risolvere.

Uomo violento “vecchia scuola”. Ha creato un piccolo regime di terrore nella campagna laziale come strozzino. Ha una infinita ammirazione per il padre ormai morto che ai suoi tempi fu diplomatico in Giappone. Questo evento ha fatto sì che nella sua testa si creasse un rapporto di fratellanza con il popolo giapponese del quale però conosce veramente poco in realtà.

Regista esordiente alla sua prima esperienza con un lungometraggio, è un sognatore un po' naive e con la testa per aria. È convinto che il suo film lo lancerà come regista di successo ed è determinato a completare il progetto, qualunque sia il problema che si presenti sul set.

Ciao! Mi chiamo Giovanni Cappucci e, anche se dovessi già conoscermi, mi prendo un paio di righe per presentarmi. Ho 25 anni, sono nato e cresciuto a Roma dove sto finendo il mio percorso di studi alla Rome University of Fine Arts nel corso triennale di Cinema. In questi tre anni ho accumulato esperienze producendo e lavorando a svariati cortometraggi di colleghe e colleghi, ma non solo. Ho infatti lavorato ad un paio di progetti in Irlanda e ad inizio 2025 ho lavorato al mio primo film per l’industria come assistente alla regia.

Come regista credo nel fantastico, nella capacità del cinema di farci vivere storie straordinarie che ci permettano di scappare dalla vita di tutti i giorni, dandoci però lo sponto per ragionare su noi stessi e sul mondo che ci circonda.

Rome,90s. Fabio is a young emerging director who is developing his first independent film, a western that he says will change the paradigm of the genre. But something is not working as it should and the terrible news arrives that the funds to shoot the film have run out. It is certainly not possible to resign oneself and the only solution is to try to ask for an extra from the only one who has agreed to lend money for the film: Enzo, a decidedly unsavory loan shark from the suburbs. And it will certainly not be Fabio who shows up a second time at Enzo's house to ask for a raise, but Kenji, a Japanese man with a mysterious past who by chance found himself assisting Fabio on the set after their daring encounter days before.

Will Kenji, without knowing a word of Italian, be able to save the film by convincing Enzo to give him a raise?

The short is an action comedy that mixes the atmosphere and aesthetics of Sergio Leone’s spaghetti westerns with Takeshi Kitano’s yakuza movies.

A young man with a turbulent past, taciturn and hot-headed, he tries to escape his past in the yakuza by moving to Italy. Finding himself somewhat by chance on the set of a film by a young debutant, he will soon be dragged into a spiral of problems that only violence can solve.

Violent “old school” man. He created a small regime of terror in the Lazio countryside as a loan shark. He has infinite admiration for his now deceased father who was a diplomat in Japan in his time. This event has created in his head a relationship of brotherhood with the Japanese people of whom he actually knows very little.

A debutant director at his first experience with a feature film, he is a somewhat naive dreamer with his head in the clouds. He is convinced that his movie will launch him as a successful director and is determined to complete the project, no matter what problems arise on the set.

Hello! My name is Giovanni Cappucci and, even if you already know me, I will take a few lines to introduce myself. I am 25 years old, I was born and raised in Rome where I am finishing my studies at the Rome University of Fine Arts in the three-year Cinema course. In these three years I have accumulated experience producing and working on various short films of colleagues, but not only. In fact, I have worked on a couple of projects in Ireland and at the beginning of 2025 I worked on my first film for the industry (called Switzerland) as an assistant director.

As a director I believe in the fantastic, in the ability of cinema to make us experience extraordinary stories that allow us to escape from everyday life, but giving us the impulse to think about ourselves and the world around us.
