Stray boxers need care and training to Co-exist ❤️

HELLO! I’m Melissa- I found these gorgeous stray boxers running in my neighborhood in Buckeye Arizona about 14 days ago.

They were starving and terrified! The desert can be a scary place- coyotes and javelina, rattle snakes among a lot of other critters. They were clearly traumatized and had been on the run for quite some time considering their conditions.

Multiple neighbors had posted they tried to catch them but they were aggressive and also almost hit by multiple cars. People called the police on them!

I saw the post on FB and immediately jumped to go try to find them.

I have had boxers all my adult life, and just lost mine in September to dilated cardiomyopathy so my heart strings were being yanked on seeing these guys. I jumped in my car with some treats and leashes and after about 30 minutes I found them! They were in fact being aggressive but mostly scared. And once they felt I was there to help they were extremely loving like most boxers are. I lured them with sausages and treats.

I got them in my car easily. They had jumped in an suv before. I brought them home and fed them and initially they attacked each other over food as they were so hungry.

(Noted- no more feeding together) my daughters came home from school and saw them and melted. They miss our boxer so so much so they cried and immediately thought we should keep them. I said we have to try to find their home because someone HAS to miss them.

So for the last 14 days I’ve been hunting to find their owners by posting on Facebook everywhere I can. I reported them to the humane society, I called boxer rescues (they were honestly no help and said take them to the county pound.) I just couldn’t risk them not making it to the rescues bc of their trauma and being put down at the pound first. It’s been so frustrating to realize how rescue works and they flat out refused to come get them.

So I’m housing them, feeding them, loving them, and rehabilitating them to the best of my ability. But I have no idea how to do it with dogs that are 4 years old and littermates.

Yes I even hunted down their BREEDER! though their chips weren’t registered I managed to find their breeder by chip numbers of their littermates. It took me two full days on the internet.

I then reached out to their breeder and she somehow doesn’t have the documentation of who their owners are. It was such a disappointment because I intended on returning these dogs to their family not keeping indefinitely. At this point I’m feeling like if I don’t keep these dogs, and do my best to get them proper training for aggression and lack of socialization (they bark wildly and go at other people and dogs on walks) I don’t know what their future may hold.

there is an intensive training program in Phoenix where it’s two weeks and they guarantee they can train the aggression out of dogs, but it’s $2800 each animal.

I’m a single mom with a daughter starting college in the fall and I just don’t have the money to do this but these babies really deserve a chance!!

I believe they will be successful as they have it in them to be loving and sweet, they just weren’t socialized properly and since I have no idea of their past 4 years (their bday is 2/18/20)

Pug that we’ve had to keep separate because we need to protect him right now until they can learn to coexist ❤️

I don’t know what they’ve been thru aside from their scary adventure. Either they were dumped because of their behavior, or stolen or escaped- and they were on the run long enough to nearly starve to death.
