Stray Dog Sophia "Pig Troll" Needs Care

Hello! This sweet girl wandered up to my house on the night of 4/17. I've posted on social media, checked with the Humane Society, had her scanned for a microchip, and posted flyers but no one has claimed her.

She has pretty severe cherry eye (prolapsed eyelids) which were full of pus/goo, as well as a swollen foot. I took her to the vet today and he prescribed eye drops and ointments and also gave her allergy shots.

Sophia, aka Pig Troll, is the sweetest lady! She LOVES people, loves baths and walks, is great with kids and other dogs (a dog barked at her at the vet and she did not care). She has a voice like a lark (meaning, she grunts like a pig constantly -- especially when she is excited, which is whenever you pay attention to her!)

I already have 3 rescued dogs. Unfortunately, in my neighborhood, people tend to abandon dogs, and I've had this same situation with several dogs before. The no-kill shelters are all full and the Humane Society told me that she would probably quickly be moved to the animal control high-kill shelter.

I can't just release her to the streets or send her to a cage and a dismal fate. So I'm keeping her until I can find a good home for her. The vet visit today was $428, and that was leaving off eye and ear diagnostics the vet wanted to do, which would have been over a hundred dollars. I've also already purchased a large kennel for her so that I can quarantine her from my three dogs until she's is vaccinated and it's clear she doesn't have anything contagious.

The vet said that she will need surgery for her cherry eye, and he recommended full vaccinations. This will cost between $2000 and $2300.

I am posting this in the hopes that my friends and community can pitch and and donate a few bucks toward her well-being. Again, she is the sweetest girl! A very good dog whose medical needs have not been met for whatever reason. I don't know her previous situation, but I'm just trying to do right by her now.
