Street bike rider air lifted to trauma center
Local Del Norte County husband and father suffered critical injuries in street bike accident while riding on S. Fork Road.
A anonymous 911 call led medical responders to the scene where he was found unresponsive in a ditch with no witnesses to explain what had happened.
He was intubated at Sutter Coast Hospital and then transferred to Mercy Trauma in Redding via Reach Air Med on a plane with no room for his wife who must now come up with funds for transportation, food, and lodging for an undetermined length of time while finding someone to look after their 4 yr old son, home, and 2 dogs. He’s currently on a ventilator in Critical Care Shock and Trauma. A CT showed bleeding on the brain and they’re uncertain whether or not memory will be altered short/long term. He also has bleeding on the R lung which almost collapsed twice in ER. He has 6 or 7 fractured ribs and 4 or 5 large open wounds down to the bone. The full extent of injuries hasnt been determined since xrays have not yet been done. His entire R side suffered the most damage and it is still unknown whether or not he’ll experience any paralysis.
Please assist Troy Chacey, his wife Kayleen and son Troy Jr. during this time of uncertainty. Any amount would be greatly appreciated, but more importantly we ask that you pray. God bless you and your much needed donations.
