Fundraiser for the Opera House Roof and Back Wall

Tax deductible

You can make a difference by donating today to the Norway Maine Opera House Corp.

Once again Creation Completed, featuring former Oxford Hills students, will reunite to host a street dance to benefit the restoration of the performance space located on the second and third floors of the historic Opera House building on Main Street. There will be Spots of Recognition in the Opera House available for your purchase for a $500 donation for each spot. There will only be 40 spots, which we plan to proudly display in the final vision of our newly designed space, so get yours early! Donations will go to the Norway Maine Opera House renovation. The inscribed Spot of Recognition will be on display when the 2nd floor with the open dance floor and stage is useable.

The dance will take place on August 21st (rain date August 28th) at the corner of Main & Deering Street from 5-11 PM. Admission is free, but donations of any denomination are welcome!

Because of their love for this building, where many of the performers appeared on it's stage in the past, all performers are donating their time and energy to this fundraiser.

Performing are:

  • Creation Completed featuring Alan Bean,Billy Holden,Karen Shaw Bracy, Annie Somers, and Andy Whitney with Mark Perakslis and Tom Chandel
  • Terry Swett and Milltown Roadshow
  • Old Dogs New Tricks featuring Fred Foster and Rusty Wiltjer
  • Don and Judy Mayberry

Following the successful renovation of the retail spaces on the first floor, the NMOHC Board of Directors set it's sights on the next phase of the project. During the past few years the board has hired consultants to assist with creation of a business plan and lay the foundation for the launch of a future capital campaign. Architectural designs have been created, grants have been written and submitted and a new web site has been built and is about to be launched.

While the entire project is slated to cost approximately $4.5 million dollars , some of which will be offset by historical tax credits, our first priority is replacement of the roof and repair of the back wall. The first $500,000.00

of the total amount would be utilized for this project allowing us to remove a support structure within the space so that we may stage future fundraising events on the Opera House stage.

Any financial support that you can provide would be greatly appreciated! You can make a contribution here on our gofundme page, mail a check to NMOHC, PO Box 271, Norway, ME 04268, with Street Dance written on the memo line of the check, or make a contribution in person at the event.

Additional Opera House historical information will be available at the event.
