Strengthening Communities and Breaking Barriers
The World Roma Federation is embarking on an ambitious mission to reshape the lives and future of Roma communities. The Romani Economic, Social, and Community Outreach (ROM-ESCO) initiative seeks to demonstrate that the Roma population can integrate into society without having to assimilate. Currently marginalized and facing systemic discrimination, the Roma struggle with poverty, lack of job opportunities, and restricted access to education and healthcare.
Given the pervasive stereotypes about the Roma, raising funds for this initiative is a challenge. However, we are resolute in our determination to break these barriers and provide much-needed support for our community members. By implementing ROM-ESCO, we aim to not only uplift individual lives but also prove that social inclusion is possible without erasing cultural identities.
Our mission begins in Romania, where we will partner with stakeholders, addressing corruption that undermines Roma communities and misappropriates project funds. The ROM-ESCO program acknowledges the numerous challenges faced by EU Member States in advancing integration and offers a comprehensive solution focused on four key areas:
1. Economic Independence: We will foster self-reliance through targeted programs designed to encourage entrepreneurship, skill development, and access to affordable financing options for community members.
2. Educational Opportunities: To advance inclusive education, we will address systemic barriers within schools while also supporting supplementary programs that enrich cultural knowledge while providing essential academic skills.
3. Access to Healthcare: By raising awareness of community-specific issues and creating culturally appropriate solutions, we will enhance access to quality medical care for all community members.
4. Community Development: Involving Roma communities in decision-making processes will not only foster social cohesion but strengthen cultural understanding among diverse backgrounds.
We are seeking financial support from global citizens like you so that we can launch the ROM-ESCO initiative in Romania. Our goal is to inspire governments around the world with tangible evidence that progress is possible when cultural integrity is respected.
Be part of our story by contributing to a better future for the Roma community. Together, we can create a world where inclusion and respect are truly universal.
