Strep Throat to Brain Surgery - Israel's Journey
Donation protected
Hello, our name's are Tony & Sara. Our 6-year old grandson, Israel, was diagnosed with strep throat on 6/28/2023. The infection did not respond to antiobiotics and he was admitted to the Hospital on 6/30/2023. Even though Israel was put on IV antibiotics, the strep A bacteria progressed and spread into his blood stream. On 7/3/2023 he began having seizures and he was taken in for emergency brain surgery due to swelling on the brain. His brain surgery was on the left frontal lobe, which controls language, decision-making, the right side of his body, and emotional regulation. The surgery removed the fluid on his brain, however, his right side is completely impaired, his speech is almost unintelligible and his ability to control his emotions is very limited causing high agitation and frustration. Once Israel is released from the hospital he will be moved to an intensive rehab care program for at least 6-8 weeks. At this time, there is no way of knowing how long his rehabilitation will take or what the long term prognosis will be.
His Mother (our daughter), Aliza, is a single Mom. Her job is unable to provide extended leave. Aliza is now confronted with a lot of major difficulties as Israel will need 24-hour care for an undetermined amount of time.
We are setting up this GoFundMe account to provide support for Aliza and Israel. Their needs consist of medical bills, loss of income, living expenses, monthly bills, etc.
We greatly appreciate your prayers and any support you can provide.
