Stride to Provide

Tax deductible

Hi! My name is Sarah Grace Clifton. I am a junior in high school at Georgetown Visitation Preparatory school in DC, but live in Annapolis, MD. We all know the best way to fight this virus and protect each other is to stay at home. While I understand the importance of self isolation, it often leaves me feeling helpless and wishing I could do more.

Lately I’ve noticed the warm weather combined with our cabin fever has inspired a lot of us to get outside and get moving; whether on family walks, extra time taking the dogs out, a more rigorous running routine, or other activities. It started to get me thinking about the perfect way to satisfy all three current necessities - staying quarantined, taking a step up to help, and getting outside and active!

This is why I have decided to start Stride to Provide to raise money for the local chapter of World Central Kitchen, a non profit organization working urgently in response to the current COVID-19 pandemic. They have already served more than 1 million meals throughout the country. In Washington, DC, they are set up at Nationals Park where they  produce meals daily for  those hit hardest by the pandemic such as the homeless, those currently out of work or school,  senior communities, as well as first responders and frontline healthcare workers. I believe by working together, separately, we can all really make a difference for local people who are struggling to put food on the table for their family due to the corona virus.

How can you help?         Three options:

1. Make a donation to this page!
2. Sponsor me as I run!
3. JOIN THE MOVEMENT!! LITERALLY!! Get folks so sponsor YOU as you run or walk to raise money for Stride to  Provide!

(See more info about the above choices below)

I know we can make a difference. For more information email [email redacted]

Thank you for your time and consideration!!

2.  SPONSOR A STRIDER: To sponsor a runner/walker per mile,
contact your strider to get an idea of how many miles per week they estimate they will run/walk. Decide the amount per mile you will pledge (ex. 25¢, 50¢, $1.00,per mile), and finally, fill out this sponsor form with all information: https://forms.gle/HaN7Fy1uckeAi1K97

3. BECOME A STRIDER: To become a Strider simply email [email redacted] with the message “I want to stride!”.  You will receive an invite to join the fundraising team!  Once a part of the fundraising team, your name will appear on this page as a Strider! Reach out to family and friends to sponsor you per mile, and have them follow the directions in #2 above!!

Once you join the team, your name should appear at the bottom of the page as “team member”. At the end of each week, a form will be available for you to submit your weekly mileage, which will be posted on the website and sent to your sponsors! MORE INFORMATION ABOUT BEING A STRIDER: SEE “UPDATES”

Being a strider means joining the fundraising team for the next month. Once you join the team, you are encouraged to find sponsors. You should talk with your sponsors and figure out how many miles you plan to walk/run a week, and how much they are willing to pledge per mile.

For example, say I am planning to run/walk 5 miles a week. I’d let my sponsor know, and they might agree to $1 a mile. Once that is sorted, all they have to do is fill out the sponsor form on the GoFundMe page, and you are all set!

As a strider, once you are set up, all you have to do is track your miles or steps (via tracking app, Fitbit, etc). I use a free app called RunKeeper. At the end of each week the list of Striders will receive a form where they input their mileage or steps and that information will be shared with their sponsors, as well as our total team mileage to the web page!

When your sponsor or others are ready to donate, they should select your name from the team member selection on the payment page.

Thank you so much for your interest, and we’d love to have you join the team! If you have any other questions, please feel free to email. [email redacted]

Have a great day and stay safe!
