Strike Support for Tyler Mem. Hospital Workers!!
Tyler Memorial Hospital serves a rural community and is essential for the health of the region. Its workers have put their lives on the line for patients throughout this pandemic and the unprecedented challenges and risks it has caused. Like so many healthcare workers, Tyler staff have worked grueling conditions without the PPP and other protective gear required to protect them; they have been disrespected by a management tier that puts profits over their safety; and they have seen their requests for improved patient care and safety met with silence.
Tyler is owned by Community Health Systems, a for-profit company based in Tennessee. This corporation has a reputation for running hospitals like Tyler into the ground; in fact, Commonwealth made $1.6 billion last year alone from selling hospitals like Tyler. When management, after receiving $700 million in taxpayer funds from the CARES Act, opted to cut themselves bonuses rather than finally address worker concerns, that was the last straw.
Tyler Hospital workers are engaging in a 3-day Unfair Labor Practices strike from April 21-23rd, to bring management to the table to negotiate with them in good faith. We are asking for funds to help support these workers during the strike. Your donation will go directly to striking workers who are putting their livelihoods on the line to improve their patient's lives as well as their own.
PLEASE SHOW SOLIDARITY with TYLER!
