Stroke Recovery: Get Josh Back To The Woods
Donation protected
Just before Thanksgiving my brother-in-law Joshua Hardt suffered a medical crisis that ended in a stroke. Josh is only 41. He's the founder and director of Outdoor Education at the Moosalamoo Center (a nature-centered curriculum at Otter Valley High School), a part-time faculty member at Castleton University, a husband, the father of three boys under the age of 18, and a valued member of the Hubbardton community. Josh has devoted most of his life to protecting Vermont's natural environment and teaching young people how to be at home in the outdoors. Now he's facing a mountain of medical bills (perhaps the only mountain he wouldn't be excited to climb!) and a long period of rehabilitation that will interfere with his teaching and ability to provide for his family.
Our goal with this fundraiser is first and foremost to address the cost of Josh's treatment -- even with insurance, the bills are mounting due to multiple hospitalizations and extensive testing to figure out what is behind his catastrophically high blood pressure. Anything above and beyond that will go to replace lost income and help Josh, his wife Melinda, and the kids (River, Leif, and Nolan) minimize stress in a very frightening and confusing time.
With hard work and support, the doctors believe that Josh can regain most of his functioning and return to the life and work he loves. Thank you so much for helping towards that goal. Every donation large and small is appreciated!
