Strong like Tate

Donation protected
After years of tests, IVF, miscarriages and more Tyson and Meghan Gurney finally got their sweet miracle baby boy here, Tate Casey Gurney. Before his arrival he was diagnosed with Noonan Syndrome; which is a genetic disorder that prevents normal development in various parts of the body. With so many unknowns they held onto hope when Meghan was rushed to an emergency C-section at 36 weeks due to heart complications of sweet baby tate. After weeks in the NICU baby Tate was finally able to come home as they continued to see doctor after doctor. It was determined they could not put off open heart surgery any longer. When the surgeon opened his little chest and got to work he realized that Tate's heart was a lot sicker than anyone realized so he ended up having a bit more work done than anticipated. In fact, had we waited any longer to operate there's a good chance Tate would've gone into right sided heart failure. The surgeon warned us postoperatively that Tate would likely get worse before he got better and unfortunately that was the case. Late Tuesday night Tate went into a tachycardic state that his little body could not tolerate. The entire cardiac team @primarychildrens tried to make adjustments based on his symptoms however he went far too hypotensive which led him to being placed on an ECMO circuit to save his life. If you're not familiar with ECMO it's basically a machine that acts as his heart & lungs giving his body time to rest and heal. We've had a handful of set backs since Tuesday but Tate has been fairly stable the last 2 days with several small steps in the right direction. He was having a lot of clotting that could have lead to a stroke. The ECMO and cardiac teams along with the surgeons decided they should trial him off. After a day of being stable and things looking like they were headed in the right direction Tate coded And flatlined while doctors and their team performed CPR for 30 minutes when miraculously Tate began to breath again. They put him back on Ecmo, and until they feel he is strong enough to remove it again they can’t do an MRI and further testing of his brain to know it’s current status. They have however seen movement in his eyes, dilation. So many small miracles in the midst of so many unknowns. He's the strongest person we know and has fought since the day he was born. He is a true miracle. Meghan and Tyson are living any parents worst fear, a living nightmare. Tate has touched and changed so many hearts at just two months old that most don’t even touch in a lifetime. I hope one day we can all be strong like tate. That we can all be a fighter like Tate. That we can all be perfect like Tate. In the midst of all the heartache and the heaviness Tyson and Meghan are feeling at this time we hope that these donations and this go fund me can help them focus on the now and the things that matter and not have to worry about the things any parents should have to worry about during a trial like this. That we can lift the burden of bills, or not going to work so they can stay by sweet Tate’s side as that is right where they should be. While their world is on hold and the rest of the world keeps moving that we can help lighten their load and show our love. We whole heartedly appreciate every little donation and the difference we know it will make.
