Struggling financially after multiple tragedies

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Laurie. I am a 55-year-old widow who has gone through several major tragedies in the that few years.

Since 2017 I have lost my dad, my husband, my mother-in-law, my mom, and almost lost my brother.

My dad passed away unexpectedly in Mexico in 2017. He lived with me for 10 years due to health reasons. He was a strong man and was able to beat bladder cancer just six months before he passed. My dad was my hero. We never once got in an argument and never fought. We just had an unbreakable bond.

A year and half later in June 2019 my husband was visiting a childhood friend in Arizona when he also had a heart attack at the age of 48. Our only child was five months pregnant with our first grandchild. We were teenage sweethearts and together for 31 years.

After my husband passed away, I moved my mother-in-law into a care home one street away from me. I took her to her doctor’s appointment and took her shopping once or twice a week. In February 2022 she was receiving hospice. I went at 2am to give her the demurral dosage and spend some time with her, I sat and held her hand for about 30 minutes. She passed away just one hour later.

My brother aspirated last July and went without oxygen to his brain for at least 4 minutes. He is now bed ridden, doesn't speak very much, and he is also mentally disabled. He lives in a skilled nursing facility about 40 minutes away. He is my best friend.

When I called to tell our mom that he was in ICU on life support, she said that she was on her way to see him. Sadly, she had a heart attack at home and never made it to the hospital.

In addition to losing my immediate family, I was forced out of my job and had to retire 4 years sooner than I had planned. I had worked my way up through the ranks with the State of CA and was a Budget Manager III. I have a pending worker’s comp case that is either going to go to trial or the employer will offer a settlement. They will most likely not fully compensate me for my lost wages or the 1,000+ hours of vacation I had saved for my retirement.

It's been 4 years since I've been going through the worker's comp process I have been representing myself through the entire process because proving a stress case is almost impossible and attorneys will accept my case, even though the doctor's report stated that 40% of my stress is due to my employer.

There are more things that have happened that have been difficult and very painful, but losing my family and my support system has almost crumbled me. I am in therapy and working on my grief and anxiety daily. I am also working on my real estate license and work part-time to try and make ends meet.

The reason for the GoFund me is that I'm about to lose my home and my vehicle. My pension and part-time job aren’t enough to cover even those payments. I just can't imagine ending up homeless and losing everything that I've worked so hard to get. I was covering my brother's bills because most of his stuff was in my name, I've drained my savings account and maxed out all my credit cards. I have no money and the bill collectors call all day, several times a day. I'm just hoping that there are kind people out there that are willing to help me through this horrible time in my life. I'm desperate and don't know what else to do. I don't have anyone I can borrow money from, and I don't know how I would pay it back if I did get a loan. I just need enough to get through the next few months until I can sell my house and move into something that I can afford.

Right now, it is 56 degrees in my house because I can't afford to have someone come and fix my heater. This is so embarrassing and humbling, but I don't know what else to do at this point.

This is not a scam or a bunch of lies. I have paperwork for everything I've said and can answer any questions or provide proof, if needed.

I would be forever grateful and would pay it forward if there is anyone out there that can help me.
